Energy Efficiency

PROPERTY > RESIDENTIAL > Sustainability & Safety > Energy Efficiency

The overall efficiency of a home. The higher the rating, the more energy efficient the home is and the lower the fuel bills are likely to be (kWh/m2) where "1" is the lowest energy efficiency and "3" the highest energy efficiency

⚡ Energy Efficiency Index

Topic: Property | Category: Residential | Group: Sustainability & Safety**

Description

The Energy Efficiency Index measures how energy-efficient a property is based on energy use, insulation quality, heating performance, and sustainability indicators.

What the Index Measures

The index evaluates:

  • insulation performance
  • heating and cooling efficiency
  • building envelope quality
  • estimated energy consumption
  • sustainability features (windows, roofing, materials)

Higher scores = more energy-efficient properties
Lower scores = less efficient, higher energy-use properties

Numeric Scale & Quality Interpretation

Standard Toscale scales:

  • 1–3 (Free)
  • 1–5 (£0.50)
  • 1–10 (£1)
  • 1–20 (£2)
  • 1–99 (£9.90)
  • 1–999,999 (Enterprise)

Examples:

  • 19/20 = highly efficient
  • 10/20 = moderately efficient
  • 3/20 = poor efficiency

Accuracy: Larger scales allow precise comparison across newer, renovated, and older building types.

Why Numeric Scales Matter

Energy efficiency is a major cost and sustainability factor. Numeric scoring:

  • makes energy quality comparable
  • helps buyers predict utility costs
  • feeds directly into AI-based cost models
  • quantifies sustainability gaps
